If the thought of sitting in the dental chair and having someone look around your mouth makes you nervous or anxious, then sedation dentistry may be for you. We understand that each patient is different, which is why we offer a variety of sedation options. We also understand that adults and children react differently to different sedatives. To accommodate our adult patients, we are happy to offer sedation options that are best suited for grownups. Some of these sedation options include:

  • Nitrous oxide: also known as laughing gas, this mild sedative is often used to help children relax during their treatment. However, if you have minimal anxiety, our dentist may recommend this option to help you feel more comfortable.
  • Oral Sedation: this option is great for those who have mild dental anxiety. Our dentist will provide you with a sedative pill that you take before your appointment. By the time you arrive in our office, you will be relaxed and ready for your treatment.
  • IV sedation: if you are looking for a sedative that works fast, this is it. IV sedation is administered directly through a vein, which makes you relax faster and remain relaxed throughout your treatment. You will require someone to drive you home.
  • General anesthesia: this is the deepest form of sedation, as it results in almost unconsciousness or full unconsciousness. This is often recommended for patients with severe dental fear or those who are receiving more extensive or complex procedures.
If you have and questions about our sedation options for adults, we invite you to call or visit our practice today.
